After breaking out in 2019 with her From Here EP, the London-based Danish artist Winnie Raeder has been one to watch. Back in February she released ‘BABY’, her first self-produced single, and today the thoughtful young songwriter shares ‘A Quiet Way’. Once again she takes the production reigns to layer over spectral electronics upon gentle, moving piano. The style very much reminds us of Bon Iver, which those sudden bursts of digital glitches and multiplied voices, although experimentation never gives way to chaos. Throughout, Rader’s husky vocal is a genuine force of emotion, as she sings “I love you in a quiet way, / A very subtle way.” This off-kilter beauty is joined by a montage video, which like the single is a poignant "observation of life and love", as Winnie Raeder describes.
